Just when the world expected the Covid-19 to subside and economies to revive, a new variant is knocking the economies down. Omicron is already showing its effects on the American people and economy alike. With the increasing number of cases, let’s see what relief is the Biden govt. looking to provide to the Americans.

Aid discussions turn towards businesses

With pressure to build back better, the American government might drop its plan to give out fourth federal stimulus checks. According to CNBC, the discussions on Capitol Hill have taken a turn towards helping the most-hit businesses first. In such a scenario, Covid relief to individuals and families might take a back seat.

Over 1 million cases

With the total Covid cases going over a million this week, it’s natural for the government to fine-tune its strategies to meet the changed realities. For now, the increased unemployment benefits and the stimulus checks are no more in effect. That’s bad news for people who were looking forward to the fourth installment to get themselves back on their feet. But even if businesses like gyms, restaurants, performance venues, and other small businesses are going to be helped, eventually people are going to get benefitted. So, that’s something to look forward to.

US economy has changed

Initially, the pandemic caused widespread unemployment. That’s why it made sense to hand out enhanced unemployment and individual benefits. But now that workers have got a good deal, it’s time that businesses are taken care of as well.

States looking towards ARPA

Still, it’s not like people will get no benefits. States and local authorities are well slated to use American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money to get people in good shape. From education to employee benefits, they are ready to do whatever it takes. And it’s not like that the federal govt. is leaving them behind. Expanded Child tax credit and Tax rebates for new parents are still underway.
