Black Mother Of Connecticut Severely Criticized For Adopting Two White Siblings

Severe criticism came the way from the people in Connecticut towards a black woman who chose to adopt two white brothers. Despite the criticism, however, the woman remains a loving mother to her two children.

Kimberly Holden is not your typical black woman. She had always wanted to adopt children since she was a child. Furthermore, she was especially motivated by her aunts, who had adopted children and adored them all.

Despite being married for three years, the woman had not been able to convince her spouse to adopt children. In 2011, she began her endeavor to become a foster parent after her divorce. Soon she was quickly overtaken by maternal feelings, and her urges grew.

She chose to take a year off after fostering children who were all reconnected with their biological family. Kimberly explained that she received a sign from God that a kid needed her assistance, and it was then that she met Elizabeth. She elaborated:

“Elizabeth and I didn’t care that we looked different from one another because all we saw were each other’s hearts (and those look the same).”

A social worker brought Elizabeth, whom she affectionately refers to as Lizzie, to Kimberly whilst she was only 8 months old. She was capable of forming a strong motherly relationship with her daughter because of her experience as a foster parent.

Elizabeth was adopted by Kimberly on October 30, 2015. When people saw them together, they made fun of them, stared at them, and asked ridiculous questions. Some assumed she was her nanny or had stolen a lovely white child.

Despite the criticism she has received over the years, she remains steadfast in her belief that love transcends skin color.

Kimberly was called by the same social worker once more, after she had embraced Elizabeth into her life, with respect to some more adoption papers that required to be submitted. It was at this point that she learned about Edgar, who was essentially Lizzie’s baby brother.

Kimberly was told by the social worker that he required somebody to look after him and inquired if was possible for she could do it. She was first hesitant since she wasn’t sure whether she could care for a baby while working, but she ultimately changed her mind.

On July 6, 2018, Kimberly’s family was finally complete after Edgar Holden joined her. She currently is the foster mother of two lovely children, even while the criticism only grew worse. The criticisms went on to the extent that some even questioned why Edgar was “more white” than his sister.

Kimberly revealed that most of the criticism against her came from black individuals who criticized her for not fostering black children but instead preferring white ones. The criticizers were however ignorant about the fact that Kimberly’s home state comprised of a sizable white population.

the biological mother of Elizabeth and Edgar is a woman of Puerto Rican, Greek, and Cherokee ancestry. That was one of the reasons Kimberly’s bundles of joy were often viewed as outcasts. Even as a foster mom, she had never given children special treatment.

She has been called the most horrible things, including many racially discriminatory names, throughout the years, the mother of two also said.

Worse, because of her adoptive choices, black folks assumed she wanted to be white.

Despite all these, Kimberly remains a loving mother to Elizabeth and Edgar, documenting her experience on YouTube and Instagram. Despite the criticism she has received over the years, she remains steadfast in her belief that love transcends skin color.

Willis Reed, the illustrious centre for the New York Knicks, passed away at 80. His dramatic entrance onto the Madison Square Garden court before Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals inspired the team to win its first championship.

All You Need To Know About Willis Reed Cause of Death

The National Basketball Retired Players Association reported Reed’s passing. Although no specific cause of death was given, it was well-known that Reed had been unwell for some time.

“Willis Reed was the ultimate team player and consummate leader,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said. “My earliest and fondest memories of NBA basketball are of watching Willis, who embodied the winning spirit that defined the New York Knicks’ championship teams in the early 1970s. He played the game with remarkable passion and determination, and his inspiring comeback in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals remains one of the most iconic sports moments.

“As a league MVP, two-time NBA Finals MVP and member of the NBA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams, Willis was a decorated player who took great pride in his consistency. Following his playing career, Willis mentored the next generation as a coach, team executive and proud HBCU alumnus. We send our deepest condolences to Willis’ wife, Gale, his family, and many friends and fans.”

Reed’s incredible career, which included two NBA championships, two MVP awards in the NBA Finals, and seven appearances in the All-Star Game, is best known for the memorable 1969–70 season. He was the first player to win the NBA Finals MVP title, the All-Star Game MVP, and the regular season MVP in the same year.

The moment that would go down in history was him entering the arena for Game 7 of the 1970 Finals after missing Game 6 due to a thigh injury he sustained in Game 5, which left the Knicks unable to counteract Wilt Chamberlain of the Lakers. Reed led the squad to its first championship with four early points in that game despite playing little the rest of the way.

Reed was born in Hico, Louisiana, in 1942 and attended college there before helping Grambling State win the 1961 NAIA championship. At 6’9″, he was viewed as an undersized centre, but clubs quickly realised he played much bigger than that as he went on to win the 1965 Rookie of the Year title.

Reed averaged 18.7 points, and 12.9 rebounds throughout his career, and the Knicks retired his No. 19 in honour of him. In 1982, he was chosen for the Hall of Fame.
